Family Scallop Season A Bust

My waterfront informants have reported to me that the first day of family scalloping season did not go well at all. The rumor is that there are no scallops to be found. One scalloper went to Moneymoy and it took him two hours to get two scallops. This is no surprise to me as there was no seed last year. I was told that there is a lot of seed around which is very good news for next season. If it lives. Hopefuly these preliminary rumors are false and I will update later with better news but for now, it doesn't look good.

BUCK OF THE WEEK:
I set up one of my trail cams in the middle moors and had some very good luck. This nice little 6-point came by the cam one night. Note the lack of brow tines on the animal.

That's a healthy looking little buck, Martie. I hope your scallop season goes well.

Does anyone know what is wrong with the harbor right now? I went to Quaise today and there was an overwhelming odor of either sewage or rotten organic matter that made me sick to my stomach. Black slime mixed with dead eel grass washing up in gray water on the beach. Horrible. I hope this isn't a sign of worse things to come.

Thanks, Sharon. Yeah, that's a nice little buck. I'm not looking forward to this year's commercial season. There doesn't seem to be anything out there. Dan, that black slime is in the harbor every year at this time. As soon as the water cools down, it will leave.
