- I was born and raised on Nantucket. I cannot remember a day when I did not go down to the waterfront to see what was going on. My very first boat was an old mortar box that I would row with a piece of wood! I currently dredge for bay scallops during the winter months. This season was my 29th year scalloping. I also run my own product application business and home caretaking business.

What is your prediction for the upcoming commercial scallop season? I noticed Sun. many people only got from 1/4 to 1/2 a bushel each.However,Dr. Bob Kennedy estimates 26,000 bushels in the harbor.What do you think?
Don't expect much this commercial season.
