I'm a huge fan of tugs. There are several that come and go here on a weekly basis. Toscana and Victor Paving own tugs to name a few. Here are a few shots of Victor's tug, Charleston, departing Nantucket this week with a barge in tow-

Alabama

The wooden sailboat, Alabama, was in port here over the weekend. I went down to the docks just before she left and grabbed a few shots.

Summer Has Arrived

Summer arrived in force today. It was in the mid eighties all day. This happens every year at this time. It's in the 30's and 40's every day and then all of a sudden it's in the 80's. Summer is here. I went to Monomoy late in the day and grabbed a few shots.

Quiet

Not a whole heck of a lot going on down around the waterfront the past few weeks. Looks as though the new Old North Wharf is nearing completion. The workers are putting the finishing touches on it now. The work on the new dolphin at the Steam Ship Authority's north slip was completed last week. Work has begun on the bulkhead at the new Great Harbor Yacht Club. Children's Beach is still a mess. The ramp is still open most days but it's very tight navigating a truck and trailer down there. Private moorings are starting to go into the water and I saw Dennis Metcalf has started putting his moorings in as well. Before you know it, Summer will be here and in full swing.

Nice Early Spring Morning.

Nice morning today down around the waterfront. I went down to the docks early this morning and grabbed a few shots.

Sunk Boats/Sewer Work

Two boats have succumb to their watery graves recently. Both at the Town Pier. A twin engine inboard Trojan and a scallop boat. The Trojan is leaking fuel into the harbor. Someone was nice enough to place a boom around a portion of the boat to prevent some of the fuel from making it into the harbor.

What a mess. Hopefully these two wrecks will be removed as soon as possible.

AGM has moved their barge and crane over to the Brant Point Coast Guard Station. Not sure if they are just storing it over there or if they are going to be doing some work on the pier there.


The roads around the waterfront are in shambles. Especially Easton Street, Brant Point and Children's Beach. It looks like a bomb went off. They are busy working on replacing sewer lines. I'm sure the work will be completed and the roads put back together and paved just in time for the Summer people's arrival. Here are a few scenes of the mess-




The commercial bay scallop season ends on the last day of this month. The highliners are getting their full 5 bushel limit every day. It turned out to be a very good season after all.
