Here's a little video clip I shot while out scalloping last week.
And here's a more tranquil scene from a few days later-

Loved the videos-at what point must a scalloper stop dragging? We watched a smaller, dark green boat at Shimmo in yeterday's storm. The scalloper was bringing his dredges in by hand.Despite the rough seas he kept working. We wondered if anyone ever sinks.Best video ever!
That was my brother and my father in that little green boat. They were in a lee so it wasn't too bad where they were fishing. It depends on the boat and the experience of the captain as to what kind of weather they can handle. You'd be surprised at how rough it can be and still safely stay out and fish. Glad you enjoyed the video. Once a year someone sinks out there.
It was very interesting for me to read that blog. Thank author for it. I like such themes and anything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read more on that blog soon.
Looks like it was a typical cold, gray day for scalloping, but those over-flowing crates on the deck of the boat make it seem totally worth it!
Check out my relatively new Nantucket blog and in particular a funny video of my son attempting to catch fish at Brant Point: http://nantucketlilypad.com/?p=242
