A little spud barge came into the Boat Basin overnight last night. This morning they started work in the area near the A&P. I'm not sure what they were doing but it looked like they were taking core samples.

wut's a spud barge?
A spud barge is a barge that can be raised up out of the water. Refer to the pictures on the blog.
Got it thanx Cap'n. What sort of job is it doing?
Ok ok I see your other message: "dunno what they're doing maybe core samples". Got it....
They are doing core samples for the new bulkhead that is going to be built there. Twelve total samples will be taken. It takes between one and two days to complete a sample. They are drilling down to 70 feet.
That's a pretty small spud barge. I guess they don't require anything that big for just core sampling. I'm used to these types of spud barges.
We use these all over the Gulf of Mexico on a daily basis! I have never have seen a baby-one like that though, too cool!
