Commercial Scalloping Season 2015

The commercial scallop season started today. It looks very very grim at best. There is no eel grass and very few scallops. The harbor bottom is dead. I grabbed a few shots of the fleet this morning while I was out scalloping.

Labor Day 2015

Summer is over finally! I've been wishing for this day since Memorial Day. We can finally have our island back to enjoy although the best time to live on Nantucket is January and February.

Here are some shots I grabbed while I was lurking around the waterfront recently.

New Boat At The Waterfront

There's a new boat in town. Her name is Oyster Cracka's. She's owned by Jaime Marks. She is currently being used as an offshore lobster boat. Andy Roberts used to run her as a conch boat. Jaime bought her from Andy and spent three years renovating her. She is moored in the Easy Street Basin.

Fourth Of July

Hard to believe it's the Fourth Of July already. Summer is half over now much to my delight. I don't know how much more of the horrific rudeness displayed by our visitors to the island I can take. Nantucket is unlivable now until Labor Day. I'm looking forward to the dead of winter when we can have our island back.
